HVAC Manager Plays it Cool after $50K Powerball Win
A Pasadena resident won $50,000 playing Powerball; he bought his ticket at the Glen Burnie Wawa.

Glen Burnie, MD — An HVAC sales manager who discovered his $50,000 Powerball win while at work played it super cool to avoid alerting any of his co-workers about his good fortune.
Instead of calling his wife with the good news, the Pasadena man quietly sent her an email.

“I said, ‘Good, now I can quit my job,’ ” said the mother of three. The work-from-home professional and her father claimed the prize for the family and brought along her youngest for the ride.
The $50,000 win came as even more of a surprise because her husband usually buys his tickets at a 7-Eleven near their home, said the 41-year-old. Instead, he bought a $10 quick-pick ticket for the June 8 drawing while visiting Wawa at 7124 Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie.

He went there specifically to pick up an ingredient for his toddler’s special diet, said his wife. The store is helping them out by having the ingredient on hand.
The loyal Lottery player was at work the next day when he checked his numbers and discovered the win.
“He didn’t want people to know so he emailed me,” she said.
They had just signed a contract on Monday for a pool so this win comes at a great time. “Now we can actually pay for the pool,” she said, laughing, explaining that it means they won’t need to take out a loan.
