JCPenney and YMCA Help Kids Get Back to School

From JCPenney: Back-to-school is just around the corner and the JCPenney stores at White Marsh Mall and Annapolis Mall are partnering with the YMCA of Central Maryland to host exciting events providing local Y children the opportunity to interact with JCPenney associates to set goals for the school year and decorate back-to-school banners. Kids will receive backpacks filled with a pack of socks and a chance to receive a $15 gift card in preparation for the new school year.

JCPenney is also hosting a special “buy one, give one” promotion over the back-to-school season, encouraging customers to “Pair Up with JCPenney.” From Aug. 1-15, for every pack of kids socks or underwear sold by the Company, JCPenney will donate a pack to the Y, up to 750,000 pairs. The Pair Up campaign is in response to findings from a national study commissioned by JCPenney, American Families: The Need for Basic Necessities, which unearthed the truth behind an invisible need: underserved kids across the country are going without basic clothing essentials, which directly impacts the academic achievement gap. When kids don’t have basic items like socks and underwear, they often feel insecure, embarrassed and don’t want to fully engage in school activities.

These back-to-school events build on the retailer’s signature partnership with the Y. Through this collaboration, JCPenney is able to strengthen the communities where its customers and associates live, work and shop by supporting the Y’s work to help kids, families and communities reach their full potential.
