Jeanette Lorden, 80, of Annapolis

On March 29, 2015, Jeanette Lorden, beloved wife of Capt. Lawrence R. Lorden, USN (Ret.), passed away at home from cardiac complications.

Jeanette is survived by her 5 children, Karen Nassif, Cheryl Fisher, Kathy Sweeney, Kenneth Lorden and Dianne Barry and 7 grandchildren.

Jeanette was raised in Whitestone, NY, and attended St. Agnes Academy in College Point, NY. She met and married Lawrence Lorden while he was attending Kings Point Merchant Marine Academy in Great Neck, NY. They embarked on their Navy life in 1955 where they traveled, and lived in 14 different states in the US and raised 5 children along the way.

Jeanette was proud of her title of Navy Wife, but was also happy to put down roots in Annapolis, MD where she was able to connect with the local community and make lasting friendships for the past 33 years.

Jeanette was an accomplished gardener and had a talent for interior, landscape and floral design. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church and St. John Nuemann’s Church in Annapolis and was a long time member of the Great Meadows Garden/ Women’s Club. She loved her home and inviting friends and family for the weekends, but above all else she loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was a very kind, caring, considerate person who loved helping everyone.

Services will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Nuemann’s Catholic Church, 620 Bestgate Road East in Annapolis, followed by a burial at Crownsville Veteran’s Cemetery at 1 p.m. located at 1122 Sunrise Beach Road in Crownsville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association www.diabetes.org.
