Joan M. Costigan, 64, of Annapolis, died at home on Feb. 23 due to complications resulting from dementia.

She is the wife of John Costigan Jr. and mother of Lynn, Michael and Joseph Deavers; step-mother to John III, Joseph and Janet Costigan; grandmother to Cora Getz, Eli and Vera Costigan.

Costigan lived for 25 years in Burke, VA, and was elementary teacher for 37 years, including 30 years with Cora Kelly Magnet School in Alexandria, VA.

Friends may call at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomon Island Road in Edgewater at noon on Monday, Feb. 29, for a viewing, followed by a service at 1 p.m.

She will be interred in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date in a private ceremony.
