Lights on the Bay 2016 Opens Nov. 19, Runs Through Jan. 1

The holiday light show in Sandy Point State Park will open on Nov. 19, and offers a military night, ugly sweater event and visit from Santa.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Lights on the Bay will kick off the holiday season at Annapolis’s Sandy Point State Park on Saturday, Nov. 19, with a number of family-friendly events at the outdoor light show.

Guest can see nearly 70 animated and stationery holiday light displays during the two-mile drive along Chesapeake Bay. Many of those displays are returning favorites, including a colonial village inspired by historic Annapolis and one of the US Naval Academy midshipmen tossing their hats in the air, guests will also be treated to two new themes this year: North Pole Village & Enchanted Fairy Tales.

A popular event during Lights on the Bay is the annual “Dashing Through the Show” 5K fun run organized by the Anne Arundel Medical Center and local running club, the Annapolis Striders. This year’s race is held on Friday, Nov. 18, at 6:15 p.m., but runners should arrive by 5:15 p.m. to allow time to submit registration forms, which you can find online, and waivers.

For children exploring Lights on the Bay, there will be a nightly scavenger hunt challenging them to find items within the show, answer display-related questions and enter a drawing to win prizes. As always, Santa will make an appearance on Thanksgiving Day.

Sponsored by Anne Arundel Medical Center, the Lights on the Bay is open to drivers from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. every night until Jan. 1. While discount coupons are available at many local retail locations, admission prices for cars entering the park is $15, for large passenger vans, $30, and for buses, $50. Lights on the Bay will offer a special military discount on Nov. 20, when park admission is reduced to $7 for cars with a valid military ID.

Military & First Responders Night: Sunday, November 20, 2016 | 5pm – 10pmA special evening in honor of our military and first responders. $5.00 Military/First Responder Admission per car (must present a valid ID to receive discount). No coupon required.

Week of Thanks (Benefiting the Lighthouse Shelter): November 21-25, 2016 | 5pm – 10pm Kick off the week of Thanks by donating a canned good at the ticket booth for $2.00 off your admission. All canned goods will be donated to the Lighthouse Shelter in Annapolis.

Ugly Sweater Night: Sunday, November 27, 2016 | 5pm – 10pm Wear your “ugly holiday” or seasonal sweater for a special discount $5.00 per car. No coupon required.

3-D Night: Monday, November 28, 2016 | 5pm – 10pm Join us as our lights transform and come to 3-D life. Each vehicle will receive one FREE set (2 Pair) of 3-D glasses per car to the first 200 cars that arrive at the show. Additional 3-D glasses $3.00 per set while supplies last.

Light Up Your Smile Night – Hosted by Dr. Mairead O’Reilly and Associates: Friday, December 2, 2016 | 5pm – 10pm Show your braces at the front gate for $5.00 off general admission. No coupon required.
