Ballet Theatre of Maryland, Maryland’s Premiere professional ballet company, is thrilled to reveal its 2017 premiere of: The Little Mermaid in February.

On February 24th (7:30pm), 25th (7:00pm), and 26th (2:00pm) at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts in Annapolis, the Ballet Theatre of Maryland, Maryland’s premiere professional ballet company takes you under the sea for its premiere of The Little Mermaid, based upon the 1837 classic fairy tale by Hans Christian Anderson.

A mischievous young mermaid takes us on the adventure of a lifetime when she willingly gives up her freedom of life in the sea to become human, gain an immortal soul, and win the heart of a handsome, young Prince. But it will take all of her courage, selflessness, and determination to make her dreams come true by defeating a sneaky sea witch, her devious sea wraith companion, while saving two kingdoms in the process.

The ballet stars Nicole Kelsch as the Little Mermaid with Alexander Collen as her Prince and Alyssa Johnson-Taylor as the Sea Witch.

“The ballet promises to be a visual feast” says Artistic Director and choreographer Dianna Cuatto. “It is full of lyrical beauty, romance, charm, humor, and poignant passages portraying the power of love and sacrifice”, she continues, “Nicole Kelsch will melt your heart as she explores life under the sea and on land through the powerful language of dance,”
