ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD — Local high school STEM students recently attended a Young Enterprising Women Mentorship Forum at Anne Arundel Community College hosted by KCW Engineering Technologies. Out of the 35 attendees, two students received a $2,500 scholarship to attend the Enterprising Women Conference in Florida.
KCW president and chief executive officer Kimberly Groves was inspired to host this forum after attending the Enterprising Women Conference last March where she and KCW partner Melissa Walker were recognized as Enterprising Women of the Year and given the opportunity to mentor high school students from across the nation.
Scholarship recipients Lucille Kopin and Noelle Dunn, and runners-up Britney Castle and Daniela Pena will receive a Shadow Day at KCW with personal mentoring from KCW engineers and designers.

“My goal for this scholarship is to create a platform where young women can access experiences and resources that showcase what the STEM industry has to offer. I hope that we can kick start the young women’s career and model what opportunities are available to them,” said Groves in a statement.
The forum featured five executive women in STEM professions including environmental management, healthcare, engineering and IT consulting who connected with the students through a panel and roundtable discussions. Panelists included Dorothy H. Morrison, director for environment and sustainability at the Maryland Department of Transportation, Jeannie Richardson, president and CEO of The Digital Architects, Inc., Dr. Janet Brown, retired radiologist and dermatologist, Monica Smiley, president and founder of Enterprising Women Foundation, and Kimberly Groves, president and CEO of KCW.
