An Annapolis man faces assault charges after he reportedly tried to strangle a woman during an argument, police say.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — An Annapolis man faces assault charges after he reportedly tried to strangle a woman during an argument, police say. Allen Randall, 24, was arrested after Annapolis Police arrived at a house in the 1100 block of Frederick Douglass Street about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.

When officers responded for a welfare check at the home they heard two people arguing. Randall opened the door and officers spoke to him and a woman inside the home; the woman told police that as they argued Randall pushed her and then wrapped his forearm around her neck from behind, strangling her.

When officers started to arrest Randall, he allegedly began to swing his arms wildly at the officers and struck one several times. Randall eventually complied with officers and was arrested.
