Man Dies in Head-On Crash with Glen Burnie Driver

Police say speed and negligent driving were the likely cause of the fatal crash. A Severn woman was also injured.

A Pasadena man died in a three-vehicle crash that Anne Arundel County Police say was likely the fault of excessive speed and negligent driving by a Glen Burnie man.

Witnesses told police that a gold Ford Mustang was driving aggressively northbound on Quarterfield Road (MD-174) about 4 p.m. Wednesday at Jonathan Avenue in Glen Burnie. The Mustang crossed the center line and struck a southbound Oldsmobile Cutlass head-on. Both vehicles were then hit by a Saturn traveling behind the Oldsmobile.

The driver of the Oldsmobile -- Curtis Dewayne Rutherford, 50, of Park Creek Road in Pasadena -- was trapped in the vehicle. Anne Arundel County Fire Department personnel declared Rutherford dead at the scene.
