Man Drowns After Jumping Off Spa Creek Bridge In Annapolis
A man drowned in Annapolis Friday after jumping off the Spa Creek Bridge, authorities said. Police identified the victim.
ANNAPOLIS, MD — A man drowned after jumping off the Spa Creek Bridge early Friday morning, police say. The man, John Grider of Chevy Chase, was 33.
Grider jumped off the bridge just before 1:30 a.m., according to a police report. He did not resurface.
The Annapolis Fire Department, Anne Arundel County Fire Department and U.S. Coast Guard all searched for Grider, eventually finding his body. Investigators say Grider's drowning appears to be accidental. The Spa Creek Bridge is about 15 feet tall.
