Man Sought For Fight Threatens Police With Wooden Stake: Report

An Annapolis man reportedly sought for smashing a bottle on a man's head then grabbed a wooden sign to keep police away, officials say.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — An Annapolis man sought by police for reportedly smashing a bottle on a friend's head in a fight then grabbed a wooden sign to keep police away, Annapolis Police say. About 3:30 a.m. Sunday two men fought in the 600 block of Greenbriar Lane.

The victim reported that Carlos Lemus Mejia, 23, of Annapolis charged him with a knife, then struck the victim in the head with a beer bottle. The victim was cut in the head and hand. Officers found Lemus Mejia in the area, when they approached him he grabbed a wooden stake from a cardboard sign posted into the ground and approached the officers with the stake raised up. When ordered to the drop the stake, Lemus Mejia did so and was arrested.

He was charged with first-degree assault, two counts of second-degree assault, and reckless endangerment. He is being held at the Jennifer Road Detention
