Maryland Physicians Care announces MyVirtualMPC, telemedicine access to ER Physicians, through CirrusMD
Maryland Physicians Care (MPC) members can now use MyVirtualMPC, to text or video chat directly with a physician.

Maryland Physicians Care (MPC) members can now skip a trip to urgent care or the ER, instead using instant message or video chat to talk to a local doctor at no cost. From their computer or smart phone, members can ask questions, show symptoms, get a diagnosis and receive treatment (including many prescriptions) from a local ER physician through MyVirtualMPC.
“We are excited to offer MyVirtualMPC to our members. Now they’ll be able to easily access a local doctor online and get an immediate response,” said Dr. Bruce Vanderver, Chief Medical Officer, MPC. “The platform allows text or video chat with a doctor on-demand – without having to worry about long wait times or the time of day.”
With MyVirtualMPC, powered by CirrusMD and Sky Physicians, members can get answers to their questions from a local, board certified doctor between the hours of 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. Questions from patients can include a range of topics, such as: "Can I take these medications at the same time?" "Do I need to go to the ER for stitches?" or "Should I worry about this rash?"
“Members can securely send messages, images, and even video chat with a local doctor to help them avoid unnecessary trips to the ER, urgent care, or their physician’s office,” said Dr. Vanderver. “All that adds up to more convenience for our members and less time waiting in the emergency room.”
The platform will be staffed by local doctors at Sky Physicians and have common medical direction for seamless team-based continuity of care. As such, if patient needs to follow up with the doctor over a matter of hours, days, or until they can get into see their primary doctor, they will have a doctor that is familiar with their symptoms and diagnosis.
Members can register for the platform by going to MyVirtualMPC.com and downloading the app to their smart phone by searching for MyVirtualMPC on the iTunes App Store or Google Play Store. Once signed in, members only need to answer three simple questions before they can start messaging with a doctor.
