Maryland Weekend Weather Rollercoaster: From 80 Degrees to Rain

April will start out more like a rollercoaster than a lamb, with 30-degree swings in high temperatures, sunny skies and rain. We’ll even have a high close to 80 degrees.

The normal high for this time of year is 62 degrees.

But that’s balanced with quite a few rain chances, and some nights with lows close to freezing.

The National Weather Service forecast for the weekend predicts a chance of rain continuously Thursday night through Saturday night, and more soggy skies Monday and Tuesday.

Here's the latest regional forecast from the National Weather Service:

Thursday: Partly sunny, with a high near 72. Breezy, with a south wind 16 to 21 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph.

Thursday night: Showers likely, mainly between 9pm and 1am. Cloudy, with a low around 62. South wind 10 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Friday: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Cloudy, with a high near 78. Breezy, with a south wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Friday night: A chance of showers, mainly after 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 49. Southwest wind 7 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Saturday: A chance of showers, mainly before 9am. Partly sunny, with a high near 62. West wind 6 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Saturday Night: A chance of rain and snow showers between 9pm and 3am. Partly cloudy, with a low around 39. Breezy. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 51. Breezy.

Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 36.

Rain chances return Monday night and linger into Tuesday.
