MD Department of Information Technology Migrating to Windows 10

Streamlining operating systems to enhance security across state government agencies.

ANNAPOLIS, MD – March 6, 2018 - The Maryland Department of Information Technology (DoIT) today announced that the department is currently executing the initial phase of migrating all operating systems within the Enterprise to Microsoft Windows 10.

Initial kickoff for the project began in January with identification of all resources, as well as an assessment of the various agency environments DoIT supports. The deadline for completion is January 14, 2020, at which point extended support for Windows 7 will end.

“Upgrading to a Windows 10 operating system is crucial to minimizing security risks across the Enterprise. By streamlining our operating systems, state agencies will be able to work more efficiently and securely,” said Acting Secretary Michael Leahy.
