ANNAPOLIS, MD — Maryland lawmakers are going to work just a few more days to pass a state budget and a bill to deal with the coronavirus outbreak, and adjourn nearly three weeks early, Maryland Matters reported Sunday. It will be the first time the legislature has adjourned early since the Civil War.
The session was slated to run through April 6. Leaders said they will likely return to Annapolis for a special session during the final week in May.
“It is a critical time in our state’s government and a fragile moment in our efforts to secure our state’s health,” said House Speaker Adrienne A. Jones (D-Baltimore County) at a press conference.
