MD New Year's Grocery Hours: Wegmans, Harris Teeter, Whole Foods

MARYLAND — Are Maryland grocery stores open regular hours on Dec. 31, New Year's Eve, for last-minute shopping trips to stock up on snacks and drinks? And what are store hours on New Year's Day, Jan. 1? Many stores have normal hours both days, a few chains close early on New Year's Eve, and some are closed altogether on New Year's Day.

Here are the hours for grocery stores that will be open on New Year's Eve, Dec. 31, and New Year's Day, Jan. 1, along with a list of those that won't. Information is taken from their websites, social media and emails to Patch.

Some stores may vary:

• Wegmans Food Markets: Stores will close at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 31, and will reopen at 6 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 1. Locations are open normal hours on New Year's Day.
• Giant Foods: All stores will close at 9 p.m. on New Year's Eve, including the Catonsville and Bethesda stores. All stores will be open regular hours on New Year's Day and pharmacies will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the exception of Catonsville and Bethesda, which will return to their regular 24-hour operation.
• Aldi: New Year's Eve: All stores will open with limited hours (use the store locator for hours at your location). New Year's Day, Jan. 1: Closed.
• Costco: New Year's Eve: Stores open at 9 a.m. and close at 5 p.m. Jan. 1: Closed.
• Food Lion: Most stores are open regular hours on Dec. 31 and Jan. 1.
• Safeway: Open regular store hours on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.
• Weis Markets: All stores will close at 9 p.m. on New Year’s Eve. All pharmacies in Maryland and Virginia will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on New Year’s Eve. All stores will observe regular store hours on New Year’s Day. All pharmacies in Maryland and Virginia will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on New Year’s Day.
• Harris Teeter: Open regular store hours on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.
• Whole Foods: Open until 8 p.m. on New Year's Eve and open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on New Year's Day. Check your local store hours online.
• ShopRite Supermarkets: Most stores are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on both New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. Check your local store's Facebook page or call the store to check hours.
• CVS: Most stores open normal hours on both New Year's Eve and New Year's Day; pharmacy hours may be shorter on Jan. 1.
• Fresh Market: New Year's Eve: Stores close at 7 p.m. New Year's Day: Open regular hours.
• Target: New Year's Eve: Stores open at 7 a.m. but closing times may vary. New Year's Day: Open normal hours.
• Trader Joe's: New Year's Eve: All stores close at 6 p.m. New Year's Day: Closed.
• Walmart: Most stores open regular hours on both Dec. 31 and Jan. 1.
• BJ's Wholesale Club: New Year's Eve: Open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on New Year's Day.
• MOMs My Organic Market: Open regular store hours on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.
• Sam's Club: Stores close at 6 p.m. on New Year's Eve; closed on Jan. 1.
