Megabus Offers Annapolis To New York City Trips Jan. 10

The discount service Megabus now has a stop in Annapolis as part of its route to New York City. Service begins Jan. 10.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — The discount transit service megabus.com on Tuesday said it will offer two round-trip routes from Annapolis to New York City daily, according to a news release. Two morning routes to NYC and two returning routes to Annapolis are available per day.

While the company touts that its ticket prices start at $1, many of the seats sell for $39 per person round trip. A quick check of the website showed $39 was the fare for one person later in January for the Annapolis to NYC route.

The new Megabus stop in Annapolis is located at the MTA Truman Park & Ride lot, 275 Harry S. Truman Parkway). Passengers must transfer at the White Marsh MTA Park and Ride lot in Baltimore County, according to a news release. There is no overnight parking in the Riva Road lot.

Tickets are available on megabus.com for purchase now for travel beginning on Jan. 10.

Passengers can access free Wifi and power outlets as well as the company’s onboard entertainment app, Megabus RIDE. Estimated time for the Annapolis to New York ride is 4 hours and 20 minutes.

Megabus offers city-to-city bus tickets around the North America, all bookable from the computer or smartphone, according to its website. With major North American transportation hubs around the United State and Canada, Megabus serves more than 100 cities and university campuses.

The company touts its luxury double deckers with free Wi-Fi, at-seat power outlets, and panoramic windows as a green alternative way to travel.

Passengers are allowed to bring one piece of luggage and one carry-on bag, the Megabus website says. Anyone who needs to travel with more than one piece of luggage should buy an additional ticket for each additional piece of luggage ahead of their trip.
