Navy Midshipmen Reported Dozens Of Sexual Assaults Last School Year: Report
Naval Academy midshipmen reported dozens of sexual assaults during the last academic year, Stars and Stripes said.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — U.S. Naval Academy midshipmen reported 33 sexual assaults during the 2020 to 2021 academic year, Stars and Stripes said last Thursday. That was the fewest of the three service academies listed, which all have a similar number of students.
Journalist Caitlin Doornbos said cadets filed 46 complaints at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York. Another 52 were from the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
The 131 combined reports of sexual assault were the most reported at the service academies since the U.S. Department of Defense started tracking the data in 2005, Doornbos said. The previous high of 122 complaints came in the 2018 to 2019 school year. There were 88 reports in the 2019 to 2020 school year, but that total was likely influenced by the academies closing in spring 2020 for the coronavirus pandemic.
