RIVA, MD — A motorcyclist crashed his bike Wednesday afternoon after illegally passing a car in Riva, police say. An incident report claims the biker died from his injuries.
Officers identified the deceased rider as Annapolis man Joseph Anthony Disciorio III. He was 24.
Police say Disciorio was heading south on Riva Road around 3:20 p.m., riding his 2002 Kawasaki Ninja. The report alleges that Disciorio entered the center turn lane to illegally pass a car at a high rate of speed.

Around the same time, a 2014 Volkswagen Tiguan drove east on Tarpon Road, approaching its intersection with Riva Road, officers say. Police claim that the Volkswagen turned left onto northbound Riva round.
The report alleges that Disciorio then struck the Volkswagen in its left rear, causing him to fly off the bike. Medics took Disciorio to the University of Maryland R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore where he later died, police say. The other driver, Samuel Caedon Evans, was uninjured, officers claim. Evans, 20, is from Riva.
