My Go To (Brain Boosting) Smoothie

Smoothies have been a great addition to my daily menu.  They are fast, nutritious and portable.

Mine contain large amounts of anti-oxidants, vitamins, minerals, flavonoids, folate and isoflavones, which are many of the ingredients for high energy.

They have no added sugar and they are high in good plant fat and protein.  These three secrets are what keep your blood sugar even and help you feel satiated for hours.

I usually have mine for lunch, but breakfast is also very popular.  Make it the night before (do not blend), put it in the refrigerator and then in the morning blend and go.

There are hundreds of smoothie recipes out there, but for some reason this is the one that basically makes itself in my kitchen on a daily basis.

Blueberry Banana Almond Butter Kale Smoothie

8oz organic unsweetened soy milk (Trader Joes shelf pack)

2-3 tablespoons almond butter (I like raw from Trader Joes)

1 banana

1 cup organic blueberries (Brain Food)

2 handfuls baby organic kale (Wegmans)  or spinach

Blend away and enjoy!
