NAACP to Protest Shooting Deaths in MD, MO Thursday Night

The shooting deaths of black Missouri teen Michael Brown and Kendall Green, a black man from Glen Burnie, will be the focus of the rally.

The Anne Arundel County branch of the NAACP plans to hold a rally Thursday night to protest the deaths of Missouri teenager Michael Brown and Maryland’s Kendall Green.

The rally is scheduled for 8 p.m. Thursday night at John Wesley United Methodist Church in Glen Burnie, according to the group’s Twitter feed. Anne Arundel County Police Chief Kevin Davis is listed as a speaker at the event.

The fatal police shooting of Brown in Ferguson, MO, has sparked more than a week of nightly clashes between protesters and police, and led U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder to visit the St. Louis suburb on Wednesday.

Green, who was black, was killed after being shot by Matthew Pinkerton, a white man, during an altercation in Glen Burnie last year. Pinkerton was indicted, but an Anne Arundel County judge acquitted him before his case went to a jury.
