ANNAPOLIS, MD — As the economy and business sector ebbs and flows, Navy Federal Credit Union is grateful to be celebrating 40 years in the community this Friday, Sept. 20. The credit union's members consist of the military community, local businesses and area residents, and is the world's largest credit union with more than eight million members.

“We are thrilled to celebrate 40 years of serving the Navy community in Annapolis,” Rebecca Gore, branch manager of Navy Federal Credit Union, told Patch. “Our members inspire us each day and it’s an absolute honor to serve those who serve. It’s our mission to continue being here in Annapolis to help our members reach their financial goals for many years to come.”

The branch opened Sept. 27, 1979, and was only the third Navy Federal branch in Annapolis at that time. In 2014, the branch relocated to the Navy Exchange so it could better serve a large population of families living in Navy housing aboard the base and local retirees. The branch is actively involved with the base and supports many events such as Kids Days and Chief Inductions.
