More than 60 Admiral Heights residents came out to Meet the Creek on May 3. A family friendly event, Meet the Creek attracted not only young families but grandparents too. It also attracted some babies, the youngest being about two months.
The main attraction was the Watermark taxi. Capt. Mark Roskin started each ride by explaining that life jackets were under the seats and to please stay in the boat because it was too cold for swimming.
While the youngsters took turns at the wheel, everyone else enjoyed the view. They saw a bridge being opened to let a sailboat through and geese and ducks on logs and in the water. The favorite view, however, was a turtle diving off a log into the water. The turtle performed for at least two boat rides.

When not on the water, the children looked through educational materials about the creek and the environment, the most popular being a tape measure. They played in the mud and in the trees and enjoyed potato chips, brownies, cookies, muffins, bottled water and Capri Sun.
Thanks go to Melissa Tarawali for organizing the event. Attendees noted the improvements to Dewey Dock – the graveled trail with wood dividers, new plants, mulch, and the clearing of vines and debris.
