New Fire Station Under Construction In Anne Arundel Will Serve Thousands More Residents
A new firehouse is under construction in Anne Arundel. The $12 million site will span 22,000 square feet and serve thousands more residents.

CROWNSVILLE, MD — Officials recently broke ground on the new Crownsville Fire Station 6.
The Anne Arundel County Fire Department said the $12 million building will have a better location and more modern amenities than its predecessor.
"Crownsville Fire Station 6 will be more centrally located in Crownsville on the North East Corner of Generals Hwy and Sunrise Beach Road," the county fire department said in a March 3 press release.

This improved location will bring residents closer to their fire and medical crews. When construction finishes in 2025, an additional 8,000 Crownsville residents will live within 8 minutes of the station.

The firehouse will span 22,400 square feet and have four drive-through bays. There will also be a fitness room and a commercial kitchen.

The design will include green features like low-energy fixtures and sustainable construction materials. The fire department hopes these environmentally friendly offerings will help the building earn the LEED Silver Certification.
Other highlights include the exhaust removal system and the cancer reduction features to keep firefighters stay safe.
"In addition to taking into consideration the health of the firefighters working in the station, the station will also include a community room which can be used by local community groups for meetings," the fire department said on Facebook. "The Anne Arundel County Fire Department is excited about this project and looks forward to meeting our new neighbors."
