New Year's Eve Weather Forecast: From Soggy to Cool

The week starts off warm and rainy, then begins to feel more like winter, according to the National Weather Service.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — The week begins soggy, but with ridiculously warm temperatures for late December before a cooldown in time for New Year’s Eve.

According to the National Weather Service, Maryland will see lower temperatures by Friday, New Year’s Day, and mostly clear skies.

Rain chances are high throughout the week but diminish as we get closer to New Year’s Eve, with no mention of rain for Thursday or Friday, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

  • Monday: Cloudy with a 20 percent chance of rain. Cooler with highs in the upper 40s.
  • Monday Night: Rain in the evening...then showers after midnight. Lows in the lower 40s. Chance of rain 100 percent.
  • Tuesday: Rain with patchy drizzle before 11 a.m., then a chance of rain after 11 a.m. Highs in the low 60s.
  • Tuesday Night: Mostly cloudy. Lows around 50.
  • Wednesday: Mostly cloudy with a 60 percent chance of afternoon showers. Highs around 60.
  • Wednesday Night: Showers likely. Lows in the upper 40s. Chance of rain 70 percent.
  • Thursday: Partly sunny. Highs in the low 50s.
  • Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy. Lows in the mid 30s.
  • New Years Day: Mostly sunny. Highs in the low 40s.
  • Friday Night: Mostly clear. Lows in the lower 30s.
  • Saturday: Sunny. Highs in the lower 40s.
