Nominees Needed By Sept. 5 For Anne Arundel County Chamber Awards

The Anne Arundel Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations for its 2019 Business Hall of Fame. Nominations will be accepted until Sept. 5.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — The community is encouraged to nominate local organizations and businesses for half a dozen awards offered by the Anne Arundel Chamber of Commerce for its 2019 Business Hall of Fame. Nominations will be accepted until Sept. 5.

The awards available are as follows:

Business Leader of the Year

Presented to an individual in Anne Arundel County who has demonstrated throughout the year the exceptional qualities that are needed in managing a successful business or organization. Honoree should be a visionary and possess outstanding leadership attributes that have led to their organization being distinguished as among the very best. Submit a resume or bio about the nominee, provide a description of the nominee’s leadership attributes and record of business accomplishments, and include a listing of any previous recognition or awards.

Advocate of the Year

This award is presented to a person or business who has demonstrated outstanding leadership in advocating for a cause or issue that affects business, the economy, our quality of life, education, the environment, or a charitable effort. The recipient will have recognized a specific need or an issue and worked to heightening awareness by taking action. Submit a resume or bio about the nominee, provide a description of the issue or cause and attach a short narrative on how the individual or business worked to address this issue, provide examples.

Non-Profit of the Year Award

This award is presented to an Anne Arundel County organization that has demonstrated strong efforts to successfully pursue its mission and improve the quality of life and business in Anne Arundel County. The selected organization will show superior commitment to working in close partnership with the business community in the last five years. Provide a bio or overview of the organization, describe the mission or type of work the organization does and provide examples of the work or program offered by the organization.

Small Business of the Year

This award is presented to the Anne Arundel County business with fewer than 20 employees that has demonstrated outstanding skills in meeting business objectives, serving customers and providing a quality work environment for employees. Submit an overview of the business (resume of leader or leadership team), provide a description of the business and attach a short narrative on how the business implanted winning strategies for success.

Green Business Award

This award is presented to an organization or business that demonstrates extraordinary performance related to environmental practices or has made innovative advances in the “green economy.” Submit an overview of the business (resume of leader or leadership team), provide a description of work as it relates to the environment or green economy and attach a short narrative about the unique features of this business.

Don Riddle Corporate Citizenship Award

Named after the founder of Homestead Gardens Don Riddle, who was a respected community and business leader, the award is presented to recognize a business for its philanthropic contributions and strong commitment to public service. The award celebrates the recipient’s dedication to giving back to the community. Submit three examples of the companies outreach over the last five years, describe how the outreach impacted the community and provide a brief description of the business.
