Annapolis Officer Should Be Suspended, Panel Says: Report
A panel suggested that an Annapolis police officer should be suspended after his gun was stolen, a report said.
ANNAPOLIS, MD — A panel called for an Annapolis police officer's suspension last Friday, the Capital Gazette reported. Journalist Lilly Price noted that somebody stole the accused officers' handgun and radio from his truck last September.
Price added that the panel found the officer, Cpl. David Stokes, at fault for 11 policy violations related to improperly securing those work materials. The group, known as a trial board, also decided that Stokes did not hinder the investigation by asking to talk to a lawyer before questioning, the Capital wrote.
The trial board recommended that Stokes be suspended for 45 days without pay and be fined $5,150 to replace the stolen items, the newspaper concluded.
