Old Mill West HS Plans To Be Discussed Virtually April 1

The meeting will be broadcast live on Anne Arundel County Public Schools' Livestream channel and on AACPS-TV.

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD — The county board of education will review and is scheduled to vote on design documents for the planned Old Mill West High School project during its April 1 meeting. The school is slated to be built on the former Papa John’s farm near Interstate 97 and New Cut Road in Severn. Pending funding availability, the school is projected to open in the fall of 2023.

In keeping with social distancing recommendations from health officials, the board will conduct its meeting virtually. The meeting will be broadcast live on Anne Arundel County Public Schools’ Livestream channel and on AACPS-TV. The board will meet in a public session at 8:30 a.m. for the sole purpose of voting to immediately go into closed session, during which time it will discuss confidential matters as permitted by the Maryland Open Meetings Act including, but not limited to, legal advice, personnel and negotiations. The public session of the meeting will resume at 10 a.m.

To allow for public input to be provided at the meeting, the board will accept written public comment for those items that appear on the agenda. Comments can be sent via email to BoardOffice@aacps.org by 4 p.m. March 31. Testimony will be read into the record at the meeting and must be 250 words or less. Testimony longer than 250 words will be partially read into the record but the full version will be provided to the board. Testimony about any topic can also be submitted to the board of education via email at any time at BoardOffice@aacps.org.
