Paradox

In today’s installment, I would like to share a quote, from “Secrets of Spectacular Chess”

“…,Paradox carries, we believe, the most powerful impact on the chessplayer’s emotions. A succinct dictionary definition of the meaning of the word is sufficient for our purposes: ‘A phenomenon that exhibits  some conflict with preconceived notions of what is reasonable or possible…’

In my chess journey to this point, I have followed a very unconventional path.

I left high school in 11th grade, proceeded to college, then left college.

My chess playing career really started then.

I reached my, to this point, peak USCF rating of 2400, in 1992.

My current rating is much lower, but not my love of the game.

A lot has changed, including me, but my fondness for the mystery of chess has not!
