Pasadena, Millersville Businesses Burn, Officials Investigate
Fire rolled through two local businesses this week, the Anne Arundel County Fire Department says. Here is the latest update.
ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD — Fires burned through two Anne Arundel County businesses this week. The blazes were in Pasadena and Millersville.
Pasadena
A Thursday evening fire at Lucky's Deli melted the siding of the market's attached neighbor, fire officials say. The deli is in a one-story commercial space, but it shares a wall with a two-level building with apartments on the top floor.
Firefighters arrived to the scene at 306 Magothy Beach Road around 7:30 p.m. They found flames and smoke coming from the market's roof.

Forty firefighters placed the fire under control in 20 minutes. The cause of the fire, estimated dollar loss, sprinkler and smoke alarm status are all undetermined. The Anne Arundel County Fire Department is investigating what started the blaze.
Fire officials reported the incident to the county Department of Health, which will decide whether the store is safe to reopen.

One person suffered a minor injury but refused to go to the hospital. All apartment residents were allowed to return to their homes.
Millersville
Firefighters extinguished flames at a Millersville business park Wednesday afternoon. Crews did not initially see the fire when they arrived to the 400 block of Headquarters Drive around 1:30 p.m., but smoke flowed throughout the hallways.
The flames were located in a storage area in the heart of the 200-foot by 60-foot building. Crews controlled the blaze in 40 minutes. Because the large structure is broken into many smaller units, it took extra time to search for occupants and potential fire spread.
The Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport Fire & Rescue Department assisted the Anne Arundel County Fire Department's response. A combined 40 firefighters worked on the scene.
It's unclear what started the fire, how much damage it caused and whether the sprinklers and smoke alarms worked properly. Fire officials are investigating the cause of the flames.
Nobody was hurt.
