Pedestrian Hit By Dump Truck Critically Injured: Police

A Baltimore man apparently ran across Ritchie Highway in front of a truck driven by a Severn man, authorities say.

BROOKLYN PARK, MD — A Baltimore man who dashed across Ritchie Highway was critically injured when he was struck by a dump truck Monday morning, authorities say.

The accident happened just after 8 a.m. on northbound Ritchie Highway at Townsend Avenue in Brooklyn Park. Anne Arundel County Police say Gerald Lee Testerman, 32, of Baltimore, who was standing on the median, suddenly ran into the path of the dump truck.

The 2000 Peterbuilt truck was driven by Theran Spencer Gaither, 45, of Severn, who was not injured.

Testerman suffered severe head trauma and was taken first to Harbor Hospital, then to Maryland Shock Trauma, police say. He is in serious/critical condition.

Investigators say Testerman appears to be at fault in the crash. Speed and alcohol do not appear to be a factor on the part of the dump truck driver in the accident.
