Pedestrian Hit, Killed On Baltimore Washington Parkway

Police are trying to determine why a man was on foot on Baltimore Washington Parkway, where he was hit and killed Tuesday night.

LINTHICUM, MD — Maryland State Police are trying to determine why a man was on foot on Baltimore Washington Parkway, where he was hit and killed Tuesday night. Authorities have not yet released the name of the victim or the driver of a Toyota Camry who struck him about 9 p.m. on southbound MD 295 at I-695. The driver remained at the scene.

Investigators say the driver was southbound on the Parkway when the pedestrian, who was wearing dark clothing, appeared on the road. The driver attempted to stop and swerved to the right, but hit the pedestrian with the front driver side of the car.

All lanes along the highway were shut down as state troopers and Anne Arundel County EMS personnel searched for the pedestrian, who was found in the median about a quarter of a mile away from where the driver had stopped. Paramedics performed life-saving measures on the victim, who was declared dead at the scene.
