Pickup Jumps Curb, Runs Down Landscaper: Police
A man working near a memorial in Annapolis was fatally hit by a truck that drove over a curb Monday morning, police say.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — A pickup truck that jumped a curb hit and killed a man working for a landscaping company Monday morning in Annapolis.
The fatal accident happened about 8:30 a.m. near the Maryland Fire-Rescue Services Memorial at Bladen and Calvert streets.
A blue pickup truck driven by a 22-year-old man was traveling southeast on Rowe Boulevard approaching the intersection with Calvert Street when the driver left the roadway to the right. Annapolis Police say the truck drove over the curb, and struck a 39-year-old man on foot working for a landscaping company.

The worker was taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center and later died from his injuries. The driver remained on the scene and assisted police with the investigation.
Police have not released information on the vehicle or the identities of the driver or pedestrian.

The preliminary cause of the crash is the driver’s failure to remain on the roadway. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash, police say.
