Police Blotter: Stabbing on Main Street; Cab Driver Robbed at Knife Point

Over the weekend, the Annapolis Police Department responded to both a stabbing and an armed robbery.

Saturday Night Stabbing on Main Street

An Annapolis man was flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Saturday morning after he was stabbed in the stomach during a fight, city police said.

According to the police report, the officer at the scene was driving downtown at about 1:45 a.m. Saturday when a group approached his car and said there had been a stabbing in front of O'Briens Oyster Bar and Restaurant on Main Street. According to the report, once the officer arrived on scene, he found a group of people crowded around the victim, who was lying on a bench.

Police said the victim suffered a 7-inch laceration to his stomach and was bleeding. Personnel from the Annapolis Fire Department arrived on the scene to assist.

Two people who said they witnessed the scene came forward and provided a description of the suspect, city police said. According to police, officers searched the scene but were unable to find the suspect.

Police said Monday the victim is expected to survive.

Armed Robbery

City police responded to the intersection of Tuckahoe Creek Court and Yawl Road Friday afternoon after receiving a report that a taxi cab driver had been robbed at knife point.

According to the police report, once the officer arrived on scene, he found a gold minivan taxi parked on the corner of Yawl Road and Island Creek Court. The driver, who worked for the Annapolis Bay-Area Taxi company, told police that three men who had been passengers robbed him at knife point, took some cash and ran away, the police report states. According to the report, the victim said the suspects ran behind houses in a nearby wooded area.

According to police, the victim described all three suspects as being black males in their mid-20's wearing dark clothes. According to the report, one of the suspects was wearing a blue baseball cap.

The victim was not injured, according to police.
