Police Find 45 Suspended Truck Drivers On Anne Arundel Co. Roads
In 2019, Anne Arundel Co. commercial motor vehicle officers discovered 36 drivers and 90 commercial vehicles to be in violation.
ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD — Last year, 14 commercial motor vehicle officers with the Anne Arundel County Police Traffic Safety Section inspected 657 commercial motor vehicles, with 13 of them having been involved in an accident. Officers discovered 36 drivers and 90 commercial vehicles were in violation and subsequently removed from service. Three trucks were off-loaded due to excessive weight.
A total of 186 citations, 13 safety equipment repair orders and 135 written warnings were issued in 2019. Violation fines totaled $27,633.40 and a grand total of 899 violations were noted. According to a report summary the police department shared on Facebook, there were 12 license violations, eight disqualified drivers, 70 medical card violations, 17 phone violations, 59 brake violations, 174 lighting violations, one alcohol/drug violation, and 45 suspended/disqualified drivers on the road.
Currently, the department has 14 officers certified to conduct level one motor carrier inspections, five certified weight enforcement officers, one hazardous materials inspector, one cargo tank inspector and one passenger/motor coach inspector who conduct these inspections. The inspectors conducted roving patrols as well as stationary inspection points throughout the county.
