Police Identify Woman Killed by MTA Train
Authorities say a Glen Burnie woman was hit and killed Tuesday on the train tracks near the Ferndale station.

FERNDALE, MD — Authorities have identified a Glen Burnie woman who was killed Tuesday night after she was struck on the light rail train tracks.
Amanda Renea Payton, 31, of the 100 block of Elm Avenue in Glen Burnie, died in the mishap, which was reported about 7 p.m. near Route 648 and Hollins Ferry Road.
Anne Arundel County Police say an officer was flagged down by a driver at the trestle between Route 648 and Broadview Boulevard in Ferndale. The officer found a severely injured Payton just off Broadview Boulevard on the access road just south the trestle/bridge.

Medical personnel responded and attempted lifesaving measures, but Payton died from her injuries.
Investigators believe Payton was struck by a southbound MTA light-rail train on its way to the Ferndale station

The victim was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.
