Police Offer Tips to Safely Host Super Bowl 2015 Party

The Annapolis Police Department shares tips for residents who will host Super Bowl parties on Feb. 1.

Some will watch for the commercials, some for the Katy Perry halftime show, and some folks will tune in for the actual football game.

Super Bowl 2015 is Sunday, Feb. 1, and the Annapolis Police Department has some tips for residents hosting parties to ensure their guests make it home safely:

• Take car keys from partygoers as they arrive and don’t let them drive drunk.
• Serve food and non-alcoholic drinks. Serve protein-rich and starchy foods to slow alcohol absorption.
• Provide food and non-alcoholic drinks to help designated drivers enjoy the party, and also counter the effects for guests who drink alcohol.
• Stop serving alcohol in the third quarter of the game. Offer more food, coffee and desserts to party guests.
• Refuse to serve alcohol to anyone under age 21.
• Select a designated driver so guests know a sober person will take the guest home.
