Police Rescue Fuzzy Family Trapped In Stairwell

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Annapolis Police helped a family trapped in a stairwell Sunday — a family of ducklings, three of which didn't survive their ordeal. The department said on its Facebook page that Officers Inoni and Moore responded for an alarm call on State Circle and found six ducklings and a mother duck trapped in a dead space down multiple stairs.
The ducklings were too young to get up the stairs, and three ducklings had died in the space. The officers found an empty cooler nearby, filled it with water and rescued the surviving ducklings. Unfortunately, the mother duck flew away and did not return, so officers took the ducklings to the animal rescue clinic where they are being cared for.
"During this time of year ducklings can easily get trapped, fall down storm drains, or encounter other hazards. While police officers are not the duck police, we’re always ready to help!" the department said.
