Annapolis High School Students Sent Home After Power Outage

A storm prompted a power outage at Annapolis High School and Central Office Tuesday. Students were dismissed and activities cancelled.

ANNAPOLIS, MD – A storm that swept through through the area caused a power outage at Annapolis High School and the Anne Arundel County Public Schools Central Office Tuesday morning. Officials took to Twitter to reassure parents that students were safely housed in classrooms with emergency lights. Students in rooms without emergency lights had been relocated to the cafeteria.

School officials tweeted an update after their first announcement that students had transitioned to second period and that the power was still off. According to Baltimore Gas & Electric’s power outage map, there were upwards of 200 customers without power across the county at that time. School officials decided at 11 a.m. to dismiss students and cancel all after-school activities.
