As a primary sponsor of the Fish For A Cure Invitational Tournament held last month in Annapolis, RBC Wealth Management has donated $7,500 to the non-profit organization Fish For A Cure, whose goal is to raise funds to help find a cure for cancer.
RBC’s donation is part of Fish For A Cure’s $230,000 gift, which was recently presented to the Geaton and JoAnn DeCesaris Cancer Institute at Anne Arundel Medical Center (AAMC). The donation will go toward hiring a nurse navigator and a nurse nutritionist and funding these positions in the Cancer Institute.
“We are so pleased that we can help Fish For A Cure support the cancer programs at Anne Arundel Medical Center,” said Paul Dettor, First Vice President - Financial Advisor at RBC Wealth Management and Fish For A Cure board member. “It’s extremely important that patients who are living with cancer have access to the resources they need. If we can make just one family’s life better, we have made a huge difference.”

Fish for A Cure was started in 2007 by a group of friends and business associates looking for an opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the Chesapeake Bay, fulfill their passion for fishing and to have fun. After a successful first year, the wife of one of the main participants was struck with cancer. After two years of raising money for Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, where she was receiving cancer treatments, the group decided to make the tournament benefactor a local charity, AAMC, beginning in 2010.
