Record-Breaking Warm Weather On The Way For Maryland

On Saturday parts of Maryland were under a winter weather advisory, now highs are expected to hit 70 degrees the next two days.

BALTIMORE, MD — What a difference a couple of days makes. On Saturday parts of Maryland were under a winter weather advisory, now highs are expected to hit 70 degrees the next two days across much of the state. The record high temperature in Baltimore on Wednesday is 74 degrees and it's expected we will tie or smash that record as much of the state is projected to be in the 70s. It will be a bit cooler near the water, but for February we'll gladly take it.

The temps at the end of the week will fall back into the mid to upper 40s, much closer to normal highs. Unfortunately, the upcoming weekend looks very rainy with grey skies, although highs should hit 60 degrees.

The National Weather Service says, "Warm front passes through this morning. Unusually warm this afternoon. Record warmth possible."

“Seventy in February is actually pretty rare,” said NBC Washington Meteorologist Chuck Bell. “Normally, we go many years without reaching 70 at all.”

If the forecast holds up, this February is likely to finish as the third warmest on record behind only 1976 and 2017. In 2017, there were six days in February where the thermometer reached 70 degrees or higher, making it the warmest February on record dating back to 1871.
