RennFest, Oyster Festival, Fall Festival: Weekend In Anne Arundel

Maryland Rennaissance Festival, Greenstreet Gardens Fall Fest and Oyster Festival set for weekend of Oct. 20-21.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Fun things for the family to do this weekend in Anne Arundel County include the final weekend of the Maryland Renaissance Festival, the Greenstreet Gardens Fall Festival and the Oyster Festival at the Captain Avery Museum. Here's what you need to know:

The Maryland Renaissance Festival is located at: 1821 Crownsville Road. Hours are 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. Held at Revel Grove outside Annapolis, the country's second-largest renaissance festival features jousting, minstrels, magicians and a re-creation of King Henry VIII and his court. The event runs Saturdays and Sundays through Oct. 21. Join His Most Royal Highness King Henry VIII in the forests and glades with over 140 artisans exhibiting crafts in their own renaissance shops, five taverns featuring cool libations, 42 food and beverage emporiums providing a vast array of succulent and sweet treats.

Returning favorite performers include Shakespeare's Skum in its 34th year with renditions of the Bard's most popular plays in 20 minutes; Ded Bob returns with killer comedy; Hey Nunnie Nunnie's song and patter delight; Hilby, the Skinny German Juggle Boy amazes and confuses; the Danger Committee thrills with knife throwing and whip snappery; London Broil cooks up rare juggling well done; and in the 45thyear of their enormously popular comedy sword fighting and witty repartee Puke and Snot bedazzle with their fast paced humor. Greenstreet Gardens Fall Festival When: Saturday and Sunday through October 28 Where: Greenstreet Gardens, 391 West Bay Front Road, Lothian. The 5-acre corn maze, pumpkin bowling, jumping pillow, haunted hay ride, cow train, giant teepee, corn box, straw castle, underground slide and more will entertain kids.

Oyster Festival When: Sunday, October 21; 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Where: Captain Avery Museum, 1418 East West Shady Side Road, Shady Side. Admission: Adults, $6; children under 12, $2. Enjoy food, live music by local artists, unique crafts, face painting, and demonstrations showing the vital role oysters play in maintaining the health of the Chesapeake Bay. Seafood lovers are invited to feast on raw and fried oysters, oyster stew, fried oyster roll sushi, cream of crab soup, Maryland crab soup, and much more. Hamburgers and hotdogs will also be available. The day also includes the Avery Café and bake sale.
