Mom, Daughter Willing To Help Others Sheltering Amid Coronavirus
A Crofton mom hopes to help anyone in need if they are at high risk of contracting coronavirus or concerned about going out.

CROFTON, MD — As more people follow guidance to self-isolate and reduce their risk of spreading the new coronavirus, they're faced with the dilemma of picking up needed prescriptions safely and pursuing the highly sought-after and desperately needed toilet paper at the grocery store. Thanks to the kindness of others, those in the high-risk category and people worried about heading to the stores can turn to complete strangers for assistance.
Mom Autumn Fischer of Crofton, a radio personality and broadcaster, is 37 years old. Even though the new coronavirus has affected all ages at this point, she knew she wanted to help others.
"I assumed there must be some people who are either too nervous to leave their homes or just can't, so I thought it would be nice to help them out and have an opportunity to make a memory about COVID for my daughter that was a positive experience," she told Patch. "They're just people who want to protect themselves and/or their family."

It's important that her daughter, Ellie, who is 5, doesn't experience the fear of the situation, but instead sees how she can volunteer and assist those who need it, Fischer said. Together, they're willing to help others in numerous ways.

"Basically, whatever someone needs that's outside their home that could compromise their immune system. I know there are many services that already do things like that but there is usually a fee and an app to download so I just wanted to provide something more 'analog' and hands on," Fischer said.
While running errands, Fischer and her daughter plan to practice social distancing and keep their hands clean.
"My daughter and I will clean our hands, wear gloves and masks, and do our best," she said.
Fischer also encourages others willing to help to reach out to her on at autopritts@gmail.com and they can pool their efforts to help bring some brightness to a darker time. Anyone interested in having Fischer and her daughter run errands or help with a project also can contact them at her email.
