Say It Ain't Snow!: Maryland Weather Forecast

Tuesday feels like spring in Maryland. Don't get used to it, say weather forecasters.

BALTIMORE, MD – The rollercoaster that is the lead-in to spring is under way, with abnormally high temperatures in the low 60s on Tuesday.

But three weeks before the official start of spring, could Maryland be in for another snowy blast from Old Man Winter?

Here’s the scoop from weather forecasters for what we might be in for on the weather front later this week:

  • The Weather Channel forecast is calling for a 70 percent chance of snow, predicting 1-3 inches Thursday night into Friday morning, with “steady snow likely after midnight.”
  • The National Weather Service says chances are 60 percent, with “snow likely, mainly after 10 p.m.” The weather service also predicts a 40 percent chance of snow Friday morning.
  • Capital Weather Gang says: Snowfall totals are expected to be very light in the DC suburbs.

Here’s the latest forecast from the National Weather Service:

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 61. Light and variable wind becoming southeast 10 to 16 mph in the afternoon, with gusts to 25 mph.

Tuesday Night: Showers before 2 a.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 2 and 5 a.m. Low around 42. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New precipitation amounts of a quarter to a half an inch possible.

Wednesday: Mostly cloudy, then gradually sunny. High near 44. Windy, with a northwest wind 20 to 26 mph, with gusts as high as 34 mph.

Wednesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 27.

Thursday: Partly sunny, with a high near 40.

Thursday Night: Snow likely, mainly after 11 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 32. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.

Friday: Snow likely before 2 p.m., changing to rain and snow before 8 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 41. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.

Friday Night: Mix of rain and snow before 8 p.m. Partly cloudy, with a low around 30. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent.
