Seniors keep party going

Annapolis Senior Activity Center member Mike Watsky kicked off the center’s Mardi Gras party by leading more than 25 seniors in singing, “When the Saints Go Marching In.”

The scheduled entertainment was a “no show,” but Mary Crowner, the center’s office manager, played a Mardi Gras CD.

Watsky and another center member Mike Allen billed themselves as comedians “Mike & Mike” and told jokes to Senior Centers in Action host Karla Schaffer and her cameraman, Chuck Duncan.

Other seniors showed off their Mardi Gras costumes for Schaffer’s show which features events from the seven senior centers operated by Anne Arundel County’s Department of Aging and Disabilities.

The show will air in April at noon and 7 p.m. daily on AACTV (Comcast 98/Verizon 38). It will also be uploaded to YouTube so people can watch online.

Seniors also enjoyed refreshments, playing cards and just socializing with each other. After all, what is a party, but just an excuse to get together and have fun?
