Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued For Anne Arundel County

BREAKING: Anne Arundel County could see 60 mph winds during the severe thunderstorm warning, and power outages are possible.

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for parts of Anne Arundel and Baltimore counties until 5:45 p.m. Friday. Wind gusts may be up to 60 mph during the warning period, and people should watch for downed trees and branches.

Radar indicated a severe thunderstorm was located over Baltimore-Washington Airport at 5:17 p.m., according to the National Weather Service, which issued the severe thunderstorm warning.

Damaging winds will cause some trees and large branches to fall. This could injure those outdoors, as well as damage homes and vehicles. Roadways may become blocked by downed trees and ;ocalized power outages are possible, according to the warning.

Weather officials said these areas may be impacted by the severe thunderstorm: Baltimore, Severn, Riviera Beach, Baltimore-Washington Airport, Glen Burnie, Severna Park, Odenton, Pasadena,Brooklyn Park and Fort Meade.

During the warning period, people should go inside to stay safe from wind and lightning. Do not drive underneath wooded areas until the threat has passed, as trees and branches may fall.
