ANNAPOLIS, MD — The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of five Maryland counties — including Anne Arundel and Prince George's counties — until 7 p.m. on Monday, April 8. The approaching storm could bring 60 miles per hour wind gusts to the region.
At 5:52 p.m., severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Clinton to near Waldorf, moving east at 50 mph. The buoy at Cobb Point recorded a wind gust of 59 mph at 5:47 p.m., the weather service said.
Strong winds will cause some trees and large branches to fall, damaging homes and vehicles. Roadways may become blocked by downed trees, the NWS says. Localized power outages are possible. Unsecured light objects may become projectiles.
