A comfy nest has been occupied by a pair of ospreys overlooking Severna Park High School.

SEVERNA PARK, MD — Wildlife watchers can catch a glimpse into the life of a raptor family by viewing the Severna Park osprey cam.
The livestream video feed shows the nest of a pair of osprey who have settled on a platform overlooking the road and traffic passing by Severna Park High School. Local residents Mark and Heather Jeweler arranged partnerships to help the birds and are providing live streaming of the nest.

The pair originally built their nest on a light pole on the athletic field at Severna Park High School. After the ospreys migrated south in 2014, the light pole was removed for construction.

According to the osprey cam website, when the osprey returned, they tried to build a new nest on top of a construction crane, beginning a daily routine of the construction crew removing the nesting material followed by the ospreys bringing it back. Ultimately, the ospreys built a nest on a live utility pole at the construction site, which was later rendered safe by BGE. The osprey completed their nesting season and migrated south again.
While the ospreys were gone, BGE built a dedicated osprey platform to allow the raptors a safe and long-term nesting location.
