Small Business Saturday Helps Residents Keep Money in Annapolis

The Downtown Annapolis group will participate in Small Business Saturday, which is set for Nov. 29.

Shops in Downtown and throughout Annapolis and around the Chesapeake Bay region will again celebrate Small Business Saturday, a day to shop local.

Small Business Saturday, set for Nov. 29, started in 2010 as a day to encourage people to shop at small businesses on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. It has gained enough momentum that American Express now sponsors the day.

Says VisitAnnapolis.org: “This is your chance to show local business owners that you care by patronizing their businesses. In an age of global markets and capitalism, it’s far too easy for small businesses to struggle and fail, even if they have superior products and services. We have the power to turn this around. Small Business Saturday encourages people everywhere to change the world a little bit by shopping at small businesses on this designated day - and to make a habit of it in the future.”
