Social Security Scam Targets Annapolis Residents, Police Warn

The Annapolis Police Department reports residents are receiving phone calls as part of a Social Security scam.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — A Social Security Administration scam has made its way to Annapolis, local police report. Residents have been receiving phone calls from a person or people claiming to be with the Social Security Administration. They are told they are being investigated and a warrant will be issued in their name unless they pay a specified amount of money.

The Annapolis Police Department said residents are being instructed to withdraw money from a bank and not to tell anyone at the bank as to why they are withdrawing the money. They encourage all residents to not provide personal or account information if they receive a similar phone call.
